5,698 New COVID-19 Cases Reported by 9 PM... 7,000-Level Expected on the 24th (Update)
390 More Than the Same Time the Previous Day

According to the quarantine authorities and local governments including Seoul City, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, a total of 5,698 people tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. This is 390 more than the 5,308 cases recorded at the same time the previous day. It is 203 fewer than the 5,901 cases recorded at the same time one week earlier on the 16th.
Since there is still time until midnight when the tally is finalized, the number of new confirmed cases announced as of 0:00 on the 24th is expected to increase further, reaching the 7,000 range. On the previous day, about 1,600 cases were added between 9 p.m. and midnight, bringing the final count to 6,919.

New confirmed cases were 4,092 (71.8%) in the metropolitan area and 1,606 (28.2%) in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, the numbers were: Seoul 2,098, Gyeonggi 1,556, Incheon 438, Busan 408, Gyeongnam 200, Chungnam 180, Daegu 145, Gyeongbuk 144, Gangwon 125, Daejeon 79, Jeonbuk 77, Chungbuk 62, Gwangju 54, Jeonnam 41, Ulsan 37, Sejong 29, and Jeju 25, with confirmed cases reported in all 17 cities and provinces.
