Putin Urges the West to "Guarantee Security for Russia"
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on the 23rd that "the West should not demand security guarantees from Russia for themselves, but must immediately provide security guarantees to Russia."
According to foreign media including the Associated Press, President Putin made these remarks during his annual press conference held in Moscow on the same day.
He expressed the view that it is not excessive to demand that missiles not be deployed at Russia's doorstep.
Putin, who recently proposed security guarantees to the West including the United States, said, "The ball is now in the West's court," and mentioned that "security guarantee negotiations with the U.S. will be held in Geneva next month."
Regarding the possibility of an attack by Ukraine, President Putin said, "Russia does not threaten anyone." However, he noted that it seems Ukraine is preparing for military operations.
Along with this, Putin presented cooperation plans with China. President Putin said, "Russia is jointly developing advanced technology weapons with China," and added, "Russia and China trust each other mutually and are contributing together to global stability."
