[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 23rd, Chaehyunil, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, visited Yeongdeungpo Times Square with Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum to inspect the on-site quarantine situation.
On that day, Mayor Cha received a briefing on the facility's quarantine management status and thoroughly checked compliance with quarantine rules at multi-use facilities such as restaurants, cafes, and cinemas within Times Square.
Mayor Cha urged facility officials to pay more attention to quarantine management so that basic quarantine rules are strictly followed on-site, as these are facilities used by many people.
Kim Sooyoung, Mayor of Yangcheon District, attended the ‘2021 Yangcheon Saemaul Leaders Conference’ held at the Sunflower Hall of Yangcheon Cultural Center at 2 p.m. on the 23rd.
On that day, Mayor Kim encouraged the efforts of the Saemaul Association and women members who have worked hard on Saemaul-related projects by awarding commendations for their meritorious service.
Mayor Kim said, “Thanks to all of you who are making tireless efforts for community development with the Saemaul spirit of diligence, self-help, and cooperation, the future of Yangcheon District looks even more promising.”
The Traffic Safety Practice Group of Dongdaemun District (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) visited Dongdaemun District Office at 4 p.m. on the 23rd and donated 1 million won for a warm winter.
The donation was the proceeds from the sale of local agricultural products such as freshly made kimchi and citron tea last month. The donation ceremony was held on the 23rd afternoon with the attendance of Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, Jeong Young-yi, President of the Traffic Safety Practice Group, and Choi Sun-mi, Senior Vice Chairperson.
The donated funds will be delivered to the Seoul Community Chest of Korea and are planned to be used in 2022 for living expenses, medical expenses, and housing costs for low-income and vulnerable groups.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, said, “I thank the Traffic Safety Practice Group for donating funds to help neighbors in need in the community,” and added, “We will ensure that the funds are delivered to families in need through the Seoul Community Chest of Korea so that our neighbors can get through the cold winter well.”
Gangbuk District (Mayor Park Kyum-su) joined the ‘Save Afghan Women’ relay campaign on the 22nd, which calls for the protection of women’s human rights and safety in Afghanistan.
This challenge started in August mainly on social networking services (SNS) to raise international awareness against the threat to women’s human rights and lives after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.
Mayor Park Kyum-su participated upon the nomination of Roh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo District. He conveyed the message, “I support a healthy world where Afghan women regain their dignity as soon as possible,” and actively urged international cooperation to protect the lives and human rights of Afghan women.
Mayor Park said, “We must not turn a blind eye or remain silent about the Taliban’s violations of women’s human rights. The human rights of Afghan women are the most basic rights and a matter of the right to life,” adding, “I hope this campaign continues so that Afghan women can live safely and with respect.”
An anonymous angel quietly left 1 million won at the Jeongneung 2-dong Community Service Center in Seongbuk District at 11 a.m. on the 16th and disappeared. A woman in her late 50s carrying a thick red envelope visited the community center and said, “I want to help neighbors in need a little during the year-end and New Year holidays,” without revealing her name, and quietly left.
