The Gyeongbuk Social Economy Activation Merit Award is given to 23 cities and counties in the province, evaluating achievements in activating the local social economy and the priority purchase rate of social economy products over the two years of 2020 and 2021 in the social economy sector.
Pohang City ranked first in the social economy city and county evaluation for 2020 performance, achieving first place in both the priority purchase ratio and the highest purchase amount of social economy products.
The Pohang Social Enterprise Council was founded in September 2012 and currently consists of 67 members, the largest number of social enterprises in Gyeongbuk.
Every year, it implements city social enterprise nurturing support projects and regional specialized projects, which are provincial public projects, providing consulting for prospective social economy entrepreneurs and labor and tax education for social enterprises, as well as producing promotional materials and booklets for local social enterprises.
This year, they operated live commerce selling products through mobile real-time video broadcasting and promoted social economy products and related services using social media direct messages (DM), pioneering new sales channels.
