Overseas Arrivals Confirmed with 'Omicron' in Daejeon... No Contacts Found
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] An Omicron confirmed case has been reported in Daejeon.
According to Daejeon City and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on the 23rd, Ms. A (34, female), residing in Seo-gu, was finally confirmed to be infected with the COVID-19 variant virus Omicron on that day.
Ms. A was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the 20th after entering the country from the United States on the 18th. She was subsequently confirmed as an Omicron case through a detailed test for overseas entrants.
This is the first confirmed Omicron case in the region.
However, there is no record of Ms. A having contact with other people. It was confirmed that on the day of arrival, she traveled from Incheon to Seoul using the airport railroad and then came down to Daejeon by a parked private vehicle.
Also, after moving to Daejeon, the city explained that she stayed in a single room at a residential treatment center.
