Wando-gun Holds Resident Jury Meeting to Review Campaign Promises
“Continuously Gathering Residents' Opinions for Trusted and Open Administration”
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do held a resident jury meeting on the 21st to review and adjust the progress of the 7th local government administration's campaign promises.
According to the county on the 23rd, the resident jury group for adjusting and reviewing the 7th local government administration's campaign promises was randomly selected with 30 members based on proportional population by town, gender, and age for fairness.
This year's resident jury meetings were held via non-face-to-face video conferences considering the COVID-19 situation and were conducted over a total of three sessions.
The first meeting held on the 7th included the appointment of resident jurors and education on the role of the jury system, and at the second meeting on the 15th, the jurors listened to explanations from officials about the agenda items among the campaign projects and had discussion time in groups.
The six agenda items reviewed by the jury included the attraction of a sports education center linked to the marine healing industry, the 2022 Wando International Seaweed Expo, and the cancellation of campaign promises such as the Wando seafood direct distribution center, as well as changes to campaign promises including the construction of the Wando seafood promotion hall, Wando-style care safe housing, and yacht healing tours.
At the third meeting held on the 21st, after in-depth discussions by the jurors on the agenda items, a vote for approval was conducted, and all six items were finally approved by a majority vote.
County Governor Shin Woo-cheol emphasized, “The purpose of operating the resident jury group is to implement an open administration trusted by the public by actively communicating with the residents who are the owners of the campaign promises and reflecting public opinion in county administration,” and added, “Although only about six months remain in the term, we will do our best until the end to ensure the campaign promises are faithfully fulfilled.”
The 7th local government administration's campaign projects in Wando-gun total 51, with 23 completed so far, 3 canceled, and the remaining 25 in progress, showing about an 80% fulfillment rate of the campaign promises.
