Dongdaemun-gu, First Autonomous District in Seoul to Issue 'COVID-19 Certificates' Remotely
After Applying on the Health Center Website, Receive Certificates via Mobile Phone... Parallel Operation of Phone Applications for Digitally Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) has become the first of Seoul's 25 autonomous districts to establish a 'COVID-19 Certificate Non-face-to-face Remote Issuance System,' which began operation on the 15th.
The 'COVID-19 Certificate Non-face-to-face Remote Issuance System' allows confirmed patients or self-quarantined individuals to apply for certificate issuance online, after which the issuing officer sends the certificate via mobile phone.
A district official stated, "With the recent surge in COVID-19 confirmed cases, cases with unknown infection routes, breakthrough infections among fully vaccinated individuals, and reinfections among previously confirmed patients, we have implemented the 'COVID-19 Certificate Non-face-to-face Remote Issuance System' to protect residents and vulnerable groups."
The certificates available for issuance include the 'Isolation Release Confirmation' issued to COVID-19 confirmed patients after release from isolation, and the 'Hospitalization/Quarantine Notice' available to self-quarantined individuals. Currently, applications can only be made via the PC version, with a mobile version to be prepared later.
Certificate issuance applications can be made through the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center website, and for digitally vulnerable groups, the Smart City Division also accepts applications via phone.
Additionally, the district plans to actively promote the non-face-to-face issuance of COVID-19 certificates through the Dongdaemun-gu Office website as well as major subway stations and bus stop bulletin boards within the area.
