Kocca to Announce Multi-Year Open and Designated Calls Next Month... 130 Billion Won Investment
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 22nd that they will recruit institutions to conduct culture, sports, and tourism research and development (R&D) projects next year, providing a total of 6.5 billion KRW in funding.
The projects being promoted are divided into three categories: field-type, follow-up type, and tourism service innovation growth. The field-type focuses on technology development to discover capable business models. It is divided into cultural industry and social value creation. Up to 300 million KRW will be supported per project. An official stated, "Only small and medium-sized enterprise corporations can serve as the lead research and development institutions."
The follow-up type targets excellent completed projects from the cultural technology R&D program. It supports technology development for follow-up commercialization foundations. Up to 250 million KRW will be provided per project. The official added, "Lead research and development institutions must hold ownership or implementation rights of the technology based on the R&D outcomes of the excellent projects."
The newly established tourism service innovation growth involves advanced technology convergence R&D through collaboration between traditional tourism businesses and tourism venture companies. The maximum support per project is 300 million KRW. The official explained, "Whether solo or consortium, companies holding tourism business registration, permits, or designation certificates such as travel agencies, tourism accommodation businesses, tourist facility operators, or international conference businesses must be included as lead or joint research and development institutions."

The Korea Creative Content Agency will also announce multi-year open calls and designated calls next month. Including this call, approximately 130 billion KRW will be invested in total. An official stated, "In line with the integration of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Technology Promotion Center, we plan to establish more consistent project directions and support criteria to enhance convenience for research and development institutions."
