Kim Jong-in appeared on CBS Radio that evening and said, "Even if he has resigned as the standing election committee chairman, I think he will faithfully fulfill the role he must play as party leader in the presidential election."
Kim said, "Lee's future political life depends on how he handles next year's presidential election," adding, "If the presidential election fails, the People Power Party will inevitably feel a threat to its survival."
He added, "The election committee should proceed smoothly without friction, but strangely, unfortunate incidents have occurred, and I apologize to the people."
Regarding the clash between Lee and Supreme Council member Cho Su-jin, he evaluated, "No matter how much it is election season, there is a hierarchy. If you only listen to the candidate and refuse to listen to others, the election committee organization itself cannot function properly."
On Yoon's remark about the election committee friction being "exactly democracy," Kim pointed out, "I think that comment rather provoked Lee even more."
Kim said, "Since candidate Yoon is new to politics and tries to help everyone indiscriminately, this kind of phenomenon is inevitable," adding, "If everyone tries to show off their talents individually, proper election campaigning cannot be done."
He said, "Even if criticized, one must have the attitude to firmly lead," and mentioned that disciplinary action might be considered against those who make strange remarks in the middle.
