[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Members of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae) high-value donor group, the Honor Society, transformed into one-day Santas for children in child welfare facilities.
In celebration of the upcoming Christmas, they personally wrapped gifts for the children in a volunteer activity called ‘Secret Santa,’ where gifts are left behind as if Santa had visited.
According to Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae on the 21st, the ‘Secret Santa’ volunteer activity held the previous day at Sinaewon was attended by Han Sang-won, Chairman of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea; Koo Je-gil, Chairman of the Gwangju Honor Society; Kim Sang-chul, Secretary General of the Gwangju Honor Society; and Kim Ji-hyun, the 85th member of the Gwangju Honor Society.
The 25 million KRW donation for Christmas gifts was delivered to the Gwangju Metropolitan City Child Welfare Association to support children in child welfare facilities.
Chairman Han Sang-won expressed, “I hope the children grow up without losing their dreams and hopes,” adding, “Thinking about the children who will be happy to receive the gifts fills my heart with joy and happiness.”
Meanwhile, the Honor Society is a group of high-value individual donors of the Community Chest of Korea who pledge to donate 100 million KRW or more either as a lump sum or within five years. The group practices noblesse oblige by working to solve community issues and foster a mature donation culture to promote the development of the social community.
Since the first member joined in 2010 in the Gwangju area, a total of 126 members have been leading the culture of sharing in the region.
◆ Vitamin House Co., Ltd. Donates 'Health Functional Foods' to Vulnerable Children
Vitamin House Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Sang-guk) donated 1,000 million KRW worth of health functional foods?1,400 bottles (700 sets)?to the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea to promote the health of vulnerable children.
The donation ceremony was held with CEO Kim Sang-guk, Choi Kang-nim, Director of the Gwangju Regional Child Center Support Group, and executives and staff of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea in attendance.
The health functional foods will be delivered to children under care through the Gwangju Regional Child Center Support Group.
CEO Kim stated, “I hope the children overcome the cold winter well and grow up healthy.”
