Free Homeschooling Service... SKB B tv Launches 'Today's Learning'
Kids Expert Reviewed... Customized Curriculum and Content
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] SK Broadband announced on the 21st that B tv has launched a customized homeschooling service called ‘Today's Learning’ amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Learning is the first IPTV service in Korea to provide daily learning tailored by age and level for children aged 1 to 13. Through a curriculum reviewed by homeschooling experts, over 10,000 pieces of content are recommended daily on the B tv Jam Kids home screen, and all services are free of charge.
By simply registering a child's age and name in a brief profile, children aged 1 to 3 can access the Early Childhood Play course focused on child development, ages 4 to 5 can use the Creative Nuri course learned through children's songs and fairy tales, ages 6 to 7 can study the Pre-Elementary course centered on Korean and math, and ages 8 to 13 can study the grade-specific elementary courses for 30 to 40 minutes daily. For English, after a simple level test, children of all ages can learn five pieces of content daily through well-known English learning brands such as Badanamu, Yoon’s English, Little Fox, Scholastic, and BBC Kids.
The English course features Nam Sujin, known as ‘Saebyeokdal,’ a learning influencer famous for ‘Mom-taught English.’ The Early Childhood Play and Creative Nuri courses involve popular kids creators Choi Daeun from ‘Dani Kindergarten,’ who has 400,000 subscribers, and the Pre-Elementary and Elementary courses were developed in collaboration with current elementary school teachers.
The curriculum also varies between weekdays and weekends. On weekdays, learning activities are organized around themes such as children's songs, fairy tales, and storytelling, while weekends focus on play activities that support weekday learning, including background knowledge, experiments, and entertainment. The service collaborates with excellent play education content providers such as EBS, Daekyo Sangsang Kids, MilkT, Pinkfong, Pororo, and Carry.
To foster children’s independent learning habits, the TV-based ‘Learning Flow’ structure was emphasized. Without navigating through separate menus, when entering from the Jam Kids home screen, the B tv character Brobi appears to encourage learning viewing. Children can easily understand learning information and goals, and parents can conveniently check their child’s learning status.
Additionally, along with Today's Learning, B tv Jam Kids has enhanced customized kids service features such as ▲a virtual channel (185) that provides personalized recommended content by child profile ▲Jam Kids exclusive search that allows safe searching of kids content only ▲Jam Kids’ personalized space that children can decorate themselves with design themes ▲and a birthday celebration service.
Jam Kids offers the largest number of educational and play contents among domestic IPTV services with over 80,000 pieces of content and is the first to provide multi-child profiles. Compared to the previous year, the number of views increased by 198%, and views per viewer increased by 134%.
