Daesang Life Science, which started the patient food business in 1995 under Daesang's health division and has been producing products at Cheonan Plant 1, has established a dedicated standalone plant after 26 years.
Daesang Life Science's Cheonan Plant 2 began construction in June last year and was completed after approximately 18 months of building and equipment installation. The plant is equipped with the latest facilities for producing adult balanced nutrition and protein beverages, with an annual production capacity of 24,500 tons, double that of Cheonan Plant 1. The company plans to increase production capacity to over 90,000 tons annually through future facility expansions.
Daesang Life Science owns 'Newcare,' the number one domestic brand in patient food sales leading the adult balanced nutrition market in Korea, and 'MyMeal,' a specialized protein brand. Through the completion of Cheonan Plant 2, Daesang Life Science is expected to secure quality and cost competitiveness, thereby expanding opportunities to enter both domestic and overseas markets.
The new plant also features smart factory facilities to ensure safe production activities and improve efficiency. Environmentally friendly packaging production equipment and aseptic packaging manufacturing processes have been introduced, and the plant is characterized by an automated interlocking operation system that connects all processes such as mixing, aseptic storage, and cleaning into a single system.
Daesang Life Science Co., Ltd. has completed HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification for Cheonan Plant 2 to realize quality-first principles, and plans to expand its product lineup based on health functional foods by pursuing GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification. It also plans to sequentially obtain major quality certifications such as the global Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000) and Halal certification.
