Seoul City Selects 8 Winners for '2021 Energy Welfare Sharing Award'... Donations Continue from 5 Companies
Mayor's Commendations Awarded to Citizens, Organizations, and Companies Contributing to Energy Sharing
18 Selected in Categories Including Heating Tent Donations, Eco Mileage Contributions, Individual Sponsorships, and Volunteering
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 21st, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it awarded the ‘Energy Welfare Sharing Award’ to sponsors, collaborators, and volunteers of the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund who contributed to enhancing energy welfare and spreading a culture of sharing.
The ‘Energy Welfare Sharing Award’ is divided into three categories: sponsorship, collaboration, and volunteer work, and the Seoul Mayor’s Commendation is given. The total number of awardees is eight, including two in the sponsorship category, five in the collaboration category, and one in the volunteer category.
In the sponsorship category, Nam Woo-hyun, CEO of Aidugen, who has donated his company’s heating tents since 2016 to help energy-vulnerable groups have a healthy winter, and individual sponsor Choi Sang-chun, who has contributed to spreading the donation culture through regular sponsorship since 2018, received awards. In the collaboration category, Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council, Seoul Regional Child Center Council Secretary General Yoon Eun-mi, Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council Deputy Manager Hwang Soo-bin, LG Electronics Yangjae R&D Campus Deputy Manager Shim Joo-wan, and Korea Asset Management Corporation Headquarters Director Kim Jang-kwon were awarded for their contributions to promoting energy welfare projects through support linkage with energy-vulnerable groups in the region, corporate social contribution projects, and corporate Eco Mileage donations.
In the volunteer category, student Lee Woo-jung of Dongduk Women’s University, who contributed to promoting energy welfare projects by producing online content while serving as a member of the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund University Volunteer Group ‘Onbichumi 7th generation,’ received the award.
A total of 10 people received the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council Chairman’s Commendation: one in the sponsorship category, four in the collaboration category, and five in the volunteer category. In the sponsorship category, individual sponsor Heo Seo-young, who has consistently shown interest and generously donated to the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund, was awarded. In the collaboration category, Park Wan-min, director of the Sinchon Public Daycare Center, Shin Ji-ho, a student at Konkuk University College of Education Affiliated Middle School, and Shim Beom-su and Lim Ha-young, students at Hancheon Middle School, were awarded for their contributions to enhancing energy welfare and spreading a culture of sharing.
In the volunteer category, students Ko Da-hyun, Kim Joo-hyun, Kim Ha-yeon, Park Na-eun, and Lee Ah-jung, who participated in various fund promotion activities as members of the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund University Volunteer Group ‘Onbichumi 7th generation,’ received awards.
Meanwhile, a joint donation ceremony of five companies?Aidugen, POSCO O&M, Korea Asset Management Corporation, Hanwha Hotels & Resorts Estate Division, and Hanwha 63 City?that participated in supporting energy-vulnerable groups against the winter cold was held at the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council. The donated goods and funds worth approximately 100 million KRW collected through this sponsorship will be used for various energy welfare projects, including support for heating supplies.
Kim Hyun-hoon, chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council, said, “Although it was a difficult year for everyone due to COVID-19, thanks to the active sponsorship and interest of citizens and companies, vulnerable groups were able to spend the winter warmly. I hope that more citizens will participate in the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund through this sharing award ceremony and donation delivery event to share warm hope energy with energy-vulnerable groups.”
