[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 21st that "Next year, we will proactively respond to environmental changes such as carbon neutrality and discover various programs to support the continuous growth of startups by supporting the 'Gyeonggi Startup Hub'."

The 'Gyeonggi Startup Hub' is a startup support project centered on the startup campus in Pangyo Techno Valley, the mecca of startups, aiming to strengthen the startup ecosystem within the province by integrating and linking various programs.

The province, together with the Gyeonggi Institute of Economic Science and Technology, is currently surveying participants of this year's project regarding satisfaction and areas for improvement, and plans to improve programs next year to provide practical help to startups based on the results.

This year, the province operated programs such as startup stage-specific education (11 courses, 13 sessions), global accelerating support for overseas investment attraction (1 session), networking with successful entrepreneurs (2 sessions), and forums between domestic and international startups (1 session).

The 'Startup Education Program,' which produced a total of 518 trainees, structured its curriculum from the basics of entrepreneurship to the latest trends, including early-stage or re-challenge startups and carbon neutrality-related education.

Through the 'Global Accelerating Program,' support was provided for startups to develop overseas markets and attract investment, including investment IR mentoring, investor matching consultations, and hosting Global Day with participation from domestic and international investors.

In particular, as a result of selecting a total of 10 companies and supporting them for six months throughout the year, two companies including NextK received investments of 100 million KRW each, and J&PNature was selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' TIPS program, receiving 500 million KRW in R&D support funds.

Kim Pyeong-won, head of the Startup Support Division of the province, stated, "We focused on providing various support from startup education to investment attraction with the Gyeonggi Institute of Economic Science and Technology this year, achieving results in nurturing entrepreneurs, strengthening capabilities, developing overseas markets, and attracting investment."
