KT Builds Untact AI Hotel... "Utilizing Smart Room Management System"
KT IoT TechnologyㆍYanolja Cloud Y FLUX GRMSㆍMercury Device First Integration
Guests Use Voice Recognition and Smartphones for Hotel Services
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT is promoting the digital transformation of the hotel industry in collaboration with global travel tech company Yanolja Cloud and information and communication equipment specialist Mercury.
On the 20th, KT announced that it has established an untact KT Artificial Intelligence (AI) hotel at H1 Hotel in Gwangju Metropolitan City.
KT operates the KT AI Hotel service, which provides a convenient stay experience based on artificial intelligence. At the KT AI Hotel, guests can use the ‘Giga Genie Hotel’ device to control room lighting, TV, heating and cooling, and request amenities and concierge services via voice commands. The KT AI Hotel also offers multilingual services including English, Chinese, and Japanese.
This smart room management system was created by integrating KT’s Internet of Things (IoT) technology with Yanolja Cloud’s cloud-based room management system ‘Y FLUX GRMS’ and Mercury’s devices for the first time. Through this, guests can conveniently use the hotel, and hotels can enhance operational efficiency.
Guests can use additional services on their smartphones along with the existing voice recognition-based services of the KT AI Hotel. Guests can check in and out using kiosks. Moreover, with the Y FLUX Pass issued at check-in, guests can control elevators, unlock room door locks, and request services such as room cleaning.
Additionally, hotel staff can access the room management system via smartphones to check real-time information such as check-in and check-out status, guest presence, customer requests, and room conditions. Since sensors installed in the rooms detect guest presence, effective power management is possible. Furthermore, the opening and closing status of room doors is managed as a separate log, enhancing hotel security.
KT plans to gradually expand hotels applying the smart room management system and is cooperating with many operators to build smart hotel solutions and digital transformation using big data, AI Contact Center (AICC), and more beyond existing services.
Kim Young-sik, Head of KT DX Platform Business Division, said, “Through this collaboration, KT AI Hotel can provide differentiated services to guests and hotel staff,” adding, “KT will continue to discover various cases for the digital transformation of the rapidly changing hotel industry due to COVID-19 and other factors.”
