Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Conducts Joint Fire Drill for Wooden Cultural Heritage
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Nambu Fire Station (Chief Lee Jeong-ja) announced on the 19th that it conducted a joint fire drill to strengthen fire response capabilities for important wooden cultural properties.
The drill was conducted from the 2nd to the 17th and targeted eight locations including Gwangju Hyanggyo, an important wooden cultural property in the jurisdiction, aiming to establish fire suppression measures and response systems for wooden cultural property fires and to protect important cultural properties through rapid cooperation with related organizations.
The drill consisted of ▲operation and utilization of fire facilities ▲securing fire truck access routes ▲initial fire extinguishing training for related personnel ▲strengthening initial response capabilities of self-fire brigades.
Song Jae-bin, head of Songha 119 Safety Center, said, “Wooden cultural properties are mostly constructed in a structure vulnerable to fire, so initial response and prevention are important,” and added, “Through this drill, we will do our best to prevent damage to cultural properties so that precious cultural assets are not lost to fire.”
