[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook criticized Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, saying he is "scoring an own goal."
On the 19th, former lawmaker Yoon posted on her Facebook a post titled "Candidate Lee Jae-myung, who tries to differentiate himself from President Moon by scoring a suicide goal with a powerful shot in front of the goal! Did he do it unknowingly, or is it a deceptive shot believing the public wouldn't know?" Yoon wrote, "It seems that Candidate Lee is trying to differentiate himself from the Blue House by proposing to freeze property tax and health insurance premiums at this year's level," adding, "He said the important thing is the people. That is correct."
However, Yoon pointed out, "The problem is that Candidate Lee has argued that our country's property tax and comprehensive real estate holding tax are too low and has proposed collecting a land holding tax to distribute as basic income," and sarcastically added, "Candidate Lee is not differentiating himself from the Blue House now, but rather differentiating his current self from the self three days ago who called for a significant increase in effective property tax rates and the complete blocking of unearned real estate income."
Yoon said, "Normally, when a person drastically changes their stance and confuses those around them, it is proper to explain why," and continued, "Moreover, politicians are public figures. When a ruling party candidate suddenly reverses long-promised commitments to the public as if he alone does not remember them, there are two possibilities." She added, "First, he lacks the intellectual ability to understand that he is contradicting himself," and "Second, he disregards the public's intellectual ability and pretends his past statements never existed."
Yoon asked, "If both are misunderstandings on my part, please explain just one thing," and questioned, "Will you freeze property tax only next year and from the year after increase real estate holding tax to fund basic income during your term? Or will you completely withdraw the strengthening of holding tax and fundamentally block holding tax from rising faster than income?"

She noted, "For reference, People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl announced last month a continuous and permanent measure to block a sharp rise in holding tax, unlike Candidate Lee's temporary measures," and raised her voice in criticism, saying, "Pretending to take a stance against the Blue House while only talking about election-limited measures is exactly a 'bait and switch' against the people."
