About 90 people attended the ceremony, including Mayor Heo Seong-mu, members of the National Assembly, provincial and city council members, representatives of senior citizen organizations, and local residents.
The Uichang Senior Welfare Center, built in 2011, will add an annex building with two above-ground floors and an area of 1,526㎡ within the existing site, investing a total of about 4.4 billion KRW from national, provincial, and city funds to meet the increased demand for senior welfare. The construction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2023.
The expanded building will have a pilotis parking lot on the first floor to secure additional parking spaces within the site, and will separately install a multipurpose auditorium and program rooms. With the expansion of welfare spaces, various welfare programs can be enjoyed in a comfortable environment.
