Hampyeong-gun Mobilizes All Available Equipment to Fully Prevent Highly Pathogenic AI
Operating Key Disinfection Facilities and Control Posts 24 Hours for Proactive Response
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County is putting all its efforts into quarantine work to prevent the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) within the region.
According to the county on the 16th, as highly pathogenic avian influenza has recently occurred consecutively in neighboring cities and counties, quarantine work has been carried out since October targeting migratory bird habitats and AI-vulnerable farms to block the inflow into the region.
The county is deploying all available equipment, including two water spraying trucks and four wide-area sprayers, to disinfect migratory bird habitats such as Gomakwoncheon, a major infection route for AI.
In addition, one base disinfection facility and six control posts are being operated 24 hours a day, and inspections of livestock rearing environments at poultry farms are being strengthened.
For duck farms, pre-stocking quarantine facility inspections are conducted, and stocking is approved only if no abnormalities are found, as a preemptive measure to block virus inflow.
In particular, local farms have also contributed to this quarantine effort. On the 15th, farms that received agricultural drones from the county supported disinfection activities using drones as part of community return and talent donation.
