Haenam-gun Wins Regional Economic Revitalization Award in Jeonnam Province for 3 Consecutive Years

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myung Hyun-kwan) will receive the grand prize and a reward of 10 million won in the 2021 regional economic revitalization evaluation conducted by Jeollanam-do.

According to the county on the 16th, it was selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years this year. Following the excellent institution selection in 2019 for operating the Haenam Love Gift Certificate, it received the grand prize in 2020 for the highly evaluated Angel Project policy supporting small business owners.

The regional economic revitalization evaluation was conducted on 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do to actively discover and encourage excellent cases of economic policies in cities and counties. It covered 15 indicators in six areas during 2021, including excellent policies for regional economic revitalization, price management, traditional markets, support and fostering of small business owners, small and medium enterprises, social economy enterprises, and job creation.

Haenam-gun made efforts to nurture local strong small and medium enterprises by presenting innovative solutions through customized support according to growth stages in supporting small and medium enterprises. It also established a system where elderly people can happily shop by linking traditional market shopping with village bus helpers.

In addition, the operation of a startup school supporting the discovery of Haenam’s unique resources and fostering various social economy models through customized support, as well as projects supporting startup companies, were highly evaluated.

Furthermore, the representative excellent policy, “If You Knock, It Will Open, Youth Startup City Haenam,” created a startup creative campus for young people weak in practical experience through shared kitchens and shared offices.

Governor Myung Hyun-kwan said, “The honor of being selected as an excellent institution in the regional economic revitalization evaluation for three consecutive years is the result of being recognized for prioritizing economic revitalization despite the difficulties of COVID-19,” and added, “We will actively strive for regional economic revitalization to create a happy local community made together by youth, farmers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs.”
