Prosecutors' Office Forensic Analysis of Kim Woong's Black Box... Controversy Over Demand for Voluntary Submission of Secretary's Mobile Phone
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit is reported to have forensically examined the black box of the vehicle belonging to Kim Woong, a member of the People Power Party and a suspect in the recent 'accusation solicitation' scandal.
According to the legal community on the 16th, Kim's personal driver and lawyer appeared at the investigation unit on the morning of the 14th to observe the black box forensic procedure.
The investigation unit reportedly secured the black box during a search of Kim's office and residence on September 10. At that time, the driver submitted a written statement indicating that the black box was regularly formatted.
According to the lawmaker's office, during the forensic process, a prosecutor from the accusation solicitation investigation team entered and requested the driver to show his mobile phone to prove the reason for formatting. When the accompanying lawyer protested and asked the prosecutor, "Shall we formally submit a power of attorney?" the prosecutor reportedly left the interrogation room.
