Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic Donates 5 Million Won to 'Stairs of Love for Health' Fundraiser
Collaboration with Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation Operating at Sangmu Station Exit 2 Since 2015
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic (Chief Director Kim Jaebong) donated 5 million won collected through the ‘Stairs of Love for Health’ campaign.
Since July 2015, Shinsegae Eye Clinic has been operating the ‘Stairs of Love for Health’ in collaboration with Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation.
With the support of Shinsegae Eye Clinic, this staircase, located at Exit 4 of Sangmu Station, accumulates 10 won each time a citizen climbs the stairs.
So far, over 2 million citizens have used the stairs, accumulating donations totaling 35 million won.
The 5 million won donated this year was delivered to Sohwa Angel’s House, Gwangju Migrant Women Support Center, Dasom Welfare Association, and others.
Additionally, Shinsegae Eye Clinic supported the donation recipients with eye health checkup vouchers worth 1.5 million won to help the underprivileged in the region.
Kim Jaebong, Chief Director of Shinsegae Eye Clinic, said, “Although these are difficult times due to COVID-19, I hope we can all work together to overcome them,” and added, “I hope more people will be able to help the underprivileged in the future.”
Meanwhile, at the donation ceremony for the ‘Stairs of Love for Health’ held on the 13th in the meeting room of Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation, about ten people including Yoon Jinbo, President of the Rapid Transit Corporation, Kim Jaebong, Chief Director of Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic, Park Younggeol, Honorary Director, and representatives from Sohwa Angel’s House attended.
