7 Provincial Police Agency Chiefs Replaced at the Rank of Commissioner General
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] On the 15th, the government carried out high-ranking police personnel appointments, including nominating Yoo Jin-gyu, Chief of Ulsan Police Agency, as Chief of Incheon Police Agency.
Choi Seung-ryeol, Chief of Gangwon Police Agency, was nominated as Chief of Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency. Both Chief Yoo and Chief Choi were promoted from Commissioner General to Senior Commissioner General on the 1st.
The Senior Commissioner General rank is directly below the Commissioner General (Chief of Police), comprising seven positions including the Deputy Commissioner General, Chiefs of Seoul, Busan, Gyeonggi Nambu, and Incheon Police Agencies, the Police University President, and the National Investigation Headquarters Chief. Senior Commissioner Generals are considered potential candidates for Police Chief.
Commissioner General appointments were also made. Song Jeong-ae, Chief of Daejeon Police Agency, was nominated as Police Bureau Personnel Planning Officer; Kim Jin-pyo, Chief of Daegu Police Agency, as Director of the Traffic Bureau; Yoon Hee-geun, Policy Officer for Autonomous Police Cooperation, as Director of the Security Bureau; Lee Moon-soo, Chief of Gyeongnam Police Agency, as Director of the Public Safety Information Bureau; Yoo Jae-sung, Scientific Investigation Officer of the National Investigation Headquarters (NIH), as Director of the Cyber Investigation Bureau of NIH; and Kang Hwang-soo, Chief of Jeju Police Agency, as Director of the Security Investigation Bureau of NIH.
Lee Myung-ho, Director of the Security Investigation Bureau of NIH, was nominated as Director of the Police Human Resources Development Institute, and Lee Chung-ho, Director of the Traffic Bureau, was nominated as President of the Central Police Academy. Song Byung-il, Head of Investigation Division at Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency, was nominated as Deputy Chief of Public Safety at Seoul Police Agency, and Lee Myung-gyo, Director of the Police Human Resources Development Institute, as Deputy Chief of Autonomous Police.

Kim Byung-soo, Director of the Security Bureau, was nominated as Chief of Daegu Police Agency; Yoon So-sik, Director of the Public Safety Information Bureau, as Chief of Daejeon Police Agency; Kim Kwang-ho, Director of the Cyber Investigation Bureau of NIH, as Chief of Ulsan Police Agency; Choi Jong-moon, Police Bureau Personnel Planning Officer, as Chief of Gangwon Police Agency; Park Ji-young, President of the Central Police Academy, as Chief of Jeonnam Police Agency; Lee Sang-ryul, Deputy Chief of Public Safety at Seoul Police Agency, as Chief of Gyeongnam Police Agency; and Go Gi-cheol, Deputy Chief of Autonomous Police at Seoul Police Agency, as Chief of Jeju Police Agency.
