Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Urges Safe Use of Three Major Fire-Risk Electrical Appliances
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Nambu Fire Station (Chief Lee Jeong-ja) urged the safe use of the "Three Major Fire Hazard Electrical Appliances" on the 15th to prevent fires during the winter season.
The three major fire hazard electrical appliances refer to electric mats, heaters, electric heating wires, and wood-fired boilers. These are frequently used in daily life during winter, but even small carelessness can cause significant human and property damage, so special caution is required.
According to statistics from the Fire Agency, over the past five years, fires caused by electric mats and heaters were the most frequent, followed by wood-fired boilers and electric heating wires.
Safe usage methods for winter electrical appliances include ▲using electric mats without placing heavy objects on them ▲checking for plug damage or exposed wiring before using heating devices ▲unplugging heating devices when going out ▲removing flammable materials around wood-fired boilers and keeping fire extinguishers nearby.
Kim Haeng-mo, Head of the Prevention and Safety Division at Nambu Fire Station, said, “Every winter, many human and property damages occur due to careless use of heating devices. We hope everyone will learn the correct usage methods and safety rules to have a safe and warm winter.”
