With "False Resume Even After Marriage" Onslaught... Kim Jong-in Says "Not Choosing the President's Wife"
Democratic Party: "2013 Anyang University credentials also false"... Anyang University and Candidate Yoon 'after marriage'
Campaign office explanation also claimed 'false'
Kim Jong-in: "Not about choosing the president's wife"... Opposition campaign office considering verification
[Asia Economy Reporters Oh Ju-yeon and Jeon Jin-young] The ruling party has newly raised suspicions that Kim Geon-hee, wife of Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, submitted false award records not only when applying to Suwon Women's University but also to Anyang University. The Democratic Party sees the allegations against Kim as a golden opportunity to sway public opinion and is launching a full-scale offensive.

The resume presented by the lawmakers included the statement "2004 Korea Animation Grand Prize winner," but they asserted this was false. According to their confirmation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kim's name was not on the list of awardees, and the actual grand prize went to a work by a completely different organization.
They also pointed out traces of Kim inflating her academic background and career on the Anyang University resume. Kim listed her academic background as "Graduated from Seoul National University Graduate School of Business Administration (Master's degree)," but in reality, it should be "Graduated from Seoul National University Graduate School of Business (Master of Business Administration)." Additionally, the title "Art teacher at Yeongnak High School" should be corrected to "Art instructor at Yeongnak Girls' Commercial High School."
They also claimed that Kim's explanation regarding the false award record on her Suwon Women's University resume was a lie. Regarding Kim's entry of the 2004 Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival Award (SICAF) special prize on her application for a professor position at Suwon Women's University, she explained on the 14th, "I wrote it because I worked with company employees." However, the list did not include Kim nor the company she was working for at the time.
The controversy remains over the certificate of employment as Planning Director at the Korea Game Industry Association, which the People Power Party explained as a "mistake in the employment period." Kim's resume states her employment period as from 2002 to 2005, but the association was established in 2004, raising suspicions of forgery of the certificate. Democratic Party lawmakers criticized, "Kim's name was nowhere on the list of executives according to the articles of association. Is it possible to issue a certificate of employment without actually working there?" Additionally, reports emerged that two individuals who served as association presidents from its establishment until 2006, when the certificate was issued, testified that they neither knew nor had seen Kim. Furthermore, an employee who worked as the association's secretary-general for five years stated on social media that they had never seen Kim, indicating a need for further explanations from Kim or the People Power Party's campaign team.
The Democratic lawmakers who held the press conference criticized, "Yoon's statement defending his wife by saying 'it's okay if only part of it is false, not the whole' undermines fairness and common sense in the Republic of Korea." Aware of the defensive argument that these are "matters before marriage," they emphasized, "Kim's Suwon Women's University resume was written before marriage, and the Anyang University resume was written after marrying candidate Yoon."
On the same day, ruling party figures inside and outside the National Assembly intensified their offensive regarding Kim's false resume. Democratic Party floor leader Yoon Ho-jung said at a morning meeting, "Yoon candidate needs to make a decision to prevent this situation," and former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae pointed out on Facebook, "The fatal flaw is the lack of public sensitivity." Former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk has been criticizing Kim and candidate Yoon by sharing related posts on Facebook every hour.
Meanwhile, the People Power Party, while unable to hide its embarrassment over the continuous crossfire of background checks on Kim, is making every effort to defend her.

He added, "I understand that candidate Yoon explained most of it at yesterday's Kwanhun debate," and said, "I cannot comment because I have not accurately grasped the details. I cannot speak about someone else's career without knowing the facts precisely."

However, he said, "I will personally review the verification (by the election committee) properly," and added, "It's not a difficult matter, so I think we can issue a statement within a day or two."
