[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Aitone announced that the international event ‘Korea-China Cultural Metaverse Colloquium’ commemorating the 29th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations, held on the 14th on the metaverse platform ‘MOIM’ developed by its subsidiary Grid, successfully concluded with about 150 participants attending non-face-to-face using avatars.
The ‘Korea-China Cultural Metaverse Colloquium’ was co-hosted by the Korea-China Cultural Association, China Chahaer Society, and Uijeongbu City, and organized by Kwangwoon University Graduate School of Smart Convergence and the Korean Peninsula Metaverse Institute. It was the first official international event in Korea to utilize a metaverse platform.
At the event, Professor Wang Yizhou from the School of International Relations at Peking University delivered five expert research presentations related to Korea-China cultural exchange, including ‘Challenges and Prospects of Korea-China Relations.’
Making good use of the metaverse platform’s unrestricted spatiotemporal characteristics, various events were held simultaneously, including ▲ Korea-China art exhibition △ tourism promotional video screening ▲ Korea-China cultural concert ▲ Korea-China cultural poster paper presentations ▲ and a roundtable discussion with Professor Kim Myungho, author of Chinese Stories.
Choi Cheolsun, CEO of Aitone, said, “As it was the first international event using a metaverse platform, it was an opportunity to effectively verify various advantages. The ‘MOIM’ platform, which is still continuously evolving with various functions being updated, ultimately aims to become an open platform. We plan to build a broader range of references beyond the cultural and artistic fields in the future.”
