KT Expands Digital Baduk Population with AI, Metaverse, and Blockchain Initiatives

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 15th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Baduk Association, ZDNet Korea, and Artinus to promote the development of the digital Baduk industry, aiming to expand the domestic Baduk population base and spread the culture globally.
Through this MOU, the four organizations will collaborate to ▲develop markets for expanding the Baduk population base and globalizing the Baduk industry ▲promote Baduk content digital asset projects utilizing blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) ▲join forces to expand the Baduk base using artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse.
To this end, KT will provide technological cooperation in AI, metaverse, blockchain, NFTs, and stable IT infrastructure. The Korea Baduk Association will supply original data such as game records, photographs, and press materials accumulated over 76 years from renowned national champions. Artinus plans to expand the ecosystem by operating blockchain and NFT platforms and securing diverse content, while ZDNet Korea will contribute to acquiring various content, promotion, and spreading the culture globally.
Sung Won-je, Head of KT Gangnam West Corporate Customer Headquarters, said, “Four leading organizations from each field have come together to revitalize the Baduk industry,” adding, “We will contribute to the digital transformation of the Baduk industry through KT’s ICT and digital platform capabilities.”
