Hyundai Department Store Group Donates 500 Million KRW in Scholarships to Children of Fallen and Injured Police Officers
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Hyundai Department Store Group announced on the 15th that it has awarded scholarships totaling 500 million KRW to the children of police officers who died in the line of duty (165 children) and the children of police officers injured while on duty (172 children).
Since 2011, Hyundai Department Store Group has been operating the "Parangsae Scholarship" program, which provides tuition support to the children of police officers who died or were injured in the line of duty, as recommended annually by the National Police Agency. Including this year's support, a total of 1,615 recipients have received 2.97 billion KRW in tuition assistance over 11 years.
Since 2008, Hyundai Department Store Group has also been running a support program for the families of firefighters who died in the line of duty. Over 14 years, the group has provided 1.9 billion KRW to approximately 600 bereaved families.
