[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] On the 14th, COVID-19 cases surged nationwide.
According to health authorities, from midnight to 6 p.m. on that day, 4,039 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. This is 721 more than the 3,318 cases recorded by 6 p.m. the previous day. The sharp increase in cases appears to be due to the number of tests returning to weekday levels starting the previous day.
Compared to the same time on the 7th, a week earlier, when 4,149 cases were reported, this is 110 fewer cases. Considering that there is still time until midnight when the count closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at midnight on the 15th is expected to increase further.
