Gyeongbuk Sangju City, Joint Crackdown with Iron Fist on Livestock Manure Discharge Facilities at Livestock Farms
2 Judicial Complaints, 2 Suspension Orders, 4 Improvement Orders, and 5 Fines
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Sangju City, Gyeongbuk, inspected 30 livestock manure discharge facilities from October 5 to the end of November and found 13 violations at 4 farms.
The city formed a joint inspection team with the Daegu Regional Environmental Office and Mungyeong City, centered on Gyeongsangbuk-do, to check for environmental pollution acts such as water pollution and odor caused by improper operation of livestock barns.
Based on major issues, the inspection team focused on unlicensed and unreported facilities and businesses with complaints, detecting farms operating unlicensed facilities, exceeding discharge water quality standards, and violating management standards.
Two cases were reported to judicial authorities, two orders to cease use were issued, four improvement orders were given, and a total fine of 16 million KRW was imposed on five cases.
