[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seonhee] The Constitutional Court annex building located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, won the Grand Prize at this year's National Property Architecture Awards.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 14th, a total of 10 public buildings, including the Constitutional Court annex, were awarded at the '7th National Property Architecture Awards' held this year. The National Property Architecture Awards have been presented annually since 2015 to public office buildings newly constructed with funds from the National Property Management Fund, considering symbolism, design innovation, harmony with the surroundings, and more.
The Constitutional Court annex, which received the grand prize this year, was praised for its design that harmonizes with the existing main building and the nearby Bukchon Hanok Village, breaking away from the typical image of public office buildings. Additionally, the site discovered during construction was developed into a historical experience space, enhancing social value, which was also highly evaluated.
The Excellence Award was given to two buildings: the Korea Asset Management Corporation Busan Integrated Office and the Ministry of Employment and Labor Seoul Regional Labor Relations Commission annex.
Seven other locations, including Suwon Family Court, Suwon Paldal and Jangan District Election Commissions, and Seogwipo Pyoseon Police Substation, received the Merit Award.
