Disease Control Agency "Emergency Expansion of Cube Server at Night... Expect Smooth Issuance"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Regarding the connection failure on the first day of the implementation of the quarantine pass, the government explained that it expects smooth usage to be possible from the 14th through emergency measures.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) stated, "We performed emergency server expansion and service optimization work overnight, and we expect that the issuance of the electronic vaccination certificate will be smoother."
They added, "Due to a surge in access volume, overload occurred, and there were shortcomings in responding to overload issues such as real-time mass authentication processing failures. Although the server was expanded based on the existing usage of the quarantine pass, the issuance of certificates was not smooth as access volume surged following the end of the guidance period."

On the first day of the quarantine pass implementation, system overload occurred as authentication processing concentrated during lunch and dinner hours. The Cub Application, electronic entry log (KI-PASS), and the QR check-in systems linked with Naver and Kakao experienced 'freezing' issues. In response, the KDCA sent a safety notification message the previous afternoon stating, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the quarantine pass system overload. Please be informed that the quarantine pass will not be applied today."
