Oxford University Researchers: "Two Vaccine Doses Insufficient for Omicron Antibodies"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] British scientists have announced research findings that two doses of the vaccine are not sufficient to effectively respond to the COVID-19 variant Omicron.
On the 13th (local time), according to major foreign media, researchers at the University of Oxford in the UK recently analyzed blood samples from study participants who received either the AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccines as part of a large-scale study on vaccine cross-vaccination. The results showed that two doses of the vaccine alone do not produce enough neutralizing antibodies to combat the Omicron variant.
Foreign media reported that these research findings suggest an increased possibility of Omicron variant infections even among those previously infected with COVID-19 or vaccinated.
This announcement came after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned, citing health authorities' investigations, that it is difficult to suppress the Omicron variant with only two doses of the vaccine.
