Fire at Factory in Yeosu Industrial Complex... 2 Dead, 1 Missing
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] A fire broke out at a petroleum refining plant storage facility within the Yeosu National Industrial Complex in Jeollanam-do, resulting in the deaths of two workers and one missing person.
According to the Jeollanam-do Fire Headquarters on the 13th, the fire occurred at around 1:37 PM at a hazardous materials storage facility in Jusam-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do.
The fire authorities issued Response Level 1 and began extinguishing efforts, which were escalated to Response Level 2 after about an hour.
About 80 firefighters were deployed to carry out firefighting operations, and the fire is currently reported to be extinguished.
The fire authorities remain on site to prepare for any additional explosions or incidents.
There were seven workers present at the time of the fire; four reportedly evacuated, while two of the remaining three were found deceased. Search operations continue for the one missing person, who has not yet been located.
The fire department plans to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
