China on President Moon's Beijing Olympics Remarks: "Positive... Realizing Korea-China Friendship"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The Chinese government stated on the 13th that it "positively evaluates" President Moon Jae-in's remark that it is not considering a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded this way when asked about President Moon's statement during a regular briefing that day. He added, "South Korea has already expressed several times its active support for the successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics, which aligns with the Olympic spirit and embodies Korea-China friendship."
He also said, "The two countries are closely communicating and coordinating on the Korean Peninsula issue," adding, "We hope to work with South Korea to promote a political resolution of the Korean Peninsula issue and make a positive contribution to achieving long-term stability on the Peninsula."
