According to the Wonmi Police Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, a report was received by 112 around 3:20 p.m. on the 10th about a passenger carrying a bow and arrows on a city bus operating in the Bucheon area.
The responding police arrested a man in his 30s, Mr. A, who was holding a bow in his hand and had a hand axe and a weapon attached to his belt.
The bus driver, Mr. B, testified to the police that after Mr. A boarded the bus, he confronted him saying, "A passenger got on, so why didn’t you greet me?"
Police investigation revealed that Mr. A had worked as a trainee driver for this bus company for a week but was dismissed on the 9th during the probation period for not adhering to the dispatch schedule.
During the police investigation, Mr. A stated, "During training, I was taught to greet passengers when they board, but the driver did not greet me, so I pointed it out," adding, "I knew Mr. B’s face but had no personal grudge, and I was on my way to practice archery as a hobby."
He also claimed, "I did not specifically target the bus driven by Mr. B."
Meanwhile, the bow Mr. A carried at the time was confirmed to be a commercially available product, not a crossbow, and the hand axe and weapon were identified as camping equipment.
