Additional COVID-19 Cases Lead to Indefinite Postponement of Seoul City Budget Deliberations
During the extended deadline by the Seoul Metropolitan Council, a thorough review of the budget proposal will be conducted, with additional inquiries to Seoul City scheduled for two days upon resumption.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Following the decision of the quarantine authorities, the review of the 2022 Seoul Special City budget proposal by the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Budget and Accounts Special Committee (Chairman Kim Ho-pyeong, Gwangjin 3, Democratic Party of Korea) has been indefinitely postponed.
On December 10, 2021, the Jung-gu Public Health Center in Seoul notified that a temporary postponement was necessary for the meeting of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Budget and Accounts Special Committee for budget review, based on epidemiological investigations.
The Seoul Metropolitan Council's Budget and Accounts Special Committee plans to promptly resume the budget review through two days of questions and answers with Seoul City as soon as the suspension period ends, ensuring that the delayed review proceeds diligently. However, since a senior Seoul City official tested positive on the 7th, there has been a somewhat negative phenomenon of disrupting the budget review under the pretext of COVID-19. Nevertheless, the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Budget and Accounts Special Committee will steadfastly strive to fulfill the responsibility entrusted by the citizens.
