Musk's Graded Assignment from Teaching Days Sold for 9.1 Million Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, had a university assignment he graded as a teaching assistant sold at auction for about $7,000, political media outlet The Hill reported on the 9th (local time).
According to the report, a recent online auction held by the U.S. auction company RR Auction in Boston saw an assignment from 1995, graded by Musk during his time as a teaching assistant at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, sold for $7,753 (approximately 9.1 million KRW).
The assignment does not bear Musk’s full signature, but The Hill noted that it includes his initials along with a brief comment such as "The United States is changing faster than ever."
However, the identity of the person who won the auction for this assignment has not been disclosed.
Brian Thomas, who consigned the assignment to RR Auction, wrote in a letter to the company, "Musk, who was a student at the University of Pennsylvania at the time, was a strict grader," adding, "He deducted 2 points because I jokingly used profanity in the assignment."
He continued, "Musk is a pioneer and giant in science and industry," and "His name and reputation are widely known, and he is idolized as 'Iron Man' and the like."
