Gochang-gun Achieves 2nd Grade in Anti-Corruption Evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission... 'Top Rank for 3 Consecutive Years'
[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 10th that it received the highest grade in the province for three consecutive years in the '2021 Public Institution Integrity Evaluation Results' announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The county improved from a grade 3 (average) in the comprehensive integrity evaluation in 2018 to a grade 2 (excellent) in the first year of the 7th local government administration in 2019.
Since then, it achieved an excellent grade in both last year's and this year's evaluations, securing the highest grade in the province for three consecutive years.
Earlier, since the 7th local government administration, the county has adopted 'Pyeongi Geunmin (平易近民)' as its administrative philosophy to promote easy-to-understand and empathetic administration, communicating closely with residents.
In addition, through various anti-corruption policies such as one integrity policy per department, the integrity mileage system, departmental integrity pledge events, and distribution of integrity calendars, efforts have been made to spread a culture of integrity both inside and outside the county.
This year's integrity measurement calculates the comprehensive integrity score by applying external integrity, internal integrity, and penalty factors over one year from July 1 of last year to June 30 of this year.
External integrity targets civil petitioners who experienced tasks in four areas during the period: construction management and supervision, subsidy support, taxation and finance, and permits and approvals.
Internal integrity was measured by conducting both telephone and online surveys targeting affiliated employees, applying penalties for corruption incidents and trust-damaging behaviors.
Governor Yoo Ki-sang said, “I am grateful for the results achieved through the efforts of not only public officials but also all residents to make Gochang, the first capital of a clean Korean Peninsula.” He added, “We will continue to strive to create a transparent administration where all residents can feel happiness by fostering a culture of integrity and raising awareness of anti-corruption and integrity.”
