Jungjingong Opens 'Korea-China Technology Exchange Center' in Qingdao
10th: Memorandum of Understanding for Technology Exchange Activation with China Science and Technology Exchange Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Kwon Chil-seung) and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter KOSME) announced on the 10th that they have opened the Korea-China Technology Exchange Center within the China SME and Startup Support Center in Qingdao, China.
The Technology Exchange Center is established within local SME support organizations based on intergovernmental cooperation to promote technology exchange between companies of the two countries. Currently, centers are operating in six countries: Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Thailand, and Kazakhstan.
The opening ceremony was held simultaneously by connecting the China SME and Startup Support Center in Qingdao, China, the China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC) in Beijing, and Seoul online.
On the day, KOSME also signed a business agreement with the China Science and Technology Exchange Center to promote technology exchange. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations in 2022, KOSME plans to promote various cooperative projects such as discovering technology exchange demands, technology transfer, and joint investment between SMEs and startups of the two countries together with the China SME and Startup Support Center.
Until the 10th, the Korea-China Technology Exchange Consultation Meeting is also being held locally in China and at the President Hotel in Seoul. Fifteen domestic companies and about 45 Chinese companies are conducting consultations online. KOSME operates a help desk composed of technology export experts for domestic companies to support resolving difficulties in technology export negotiations and provide information services.

Kim Moon-hwan, Head of the Global Growth Division at KOSME, said, "China is our number one trading partner, and we hope that the signing of the business agreement with the China Science and Technology Exchange Center will be a new starting point for economic cooperation." He added, "KOSME will strive to make the Korea-China Technology Exchange Center a hub for technology exchange between the two countries."
