Lotte Homeshopping Selected as an 'Outstanding Institution for Cultural and Arts Sponsorship'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 10th that it received the ‘Excellence in Cultural Arts Sponsorship Institution’ certification at the 2021 Cultural Arts Sponsorship Excellence Institution Certification Ceremony.
The Cultural Arts Sponsorship Excellence Institution Certification System has been hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service since 2015. It selects and certifies companies that exemplarily support the cultural arts sector. The system evaluates the sustainability of cultural arts sponsorship, establishment of operational systems, and organizational structure to select excellent institutions, which are then provided with various benefits such as the use of certification marks and priority support for cultural arts project funding.
Lotte Homeshopping received high praise for its continuous efforts to bridge the cultural gap through customized support for marginalized groups in cultural blind spots. Since 2013, it has built and operated eco-friendly learning spaces called ‘Jageun Doseogwan’ (Small Libraries) for children in underserved areas, completing 70 branches nationwide to date. The ‘Dream Voice’ project, producing audio books for visually impaired children, has also been ongoing for seven years.

A Lotte Homeshopping official said, "We are pleased that our social responsibility activities, such as library operation and audio book production for marginalized groups who find it difficult to enjoy cultural benefits, have led to good results. As the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic is expected to worsen cultural disparities, we plan to design and implement cultural content that will practically help marginalized groups."
