[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] As of 9 PM on the 8th, 5,114 people nationwide tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the quarantine authorities and local governments including Seoul City, from midnight to 9 PM on the same day, a total of 5,114 confirmed cases tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide.
This is 590 fewer than the previous day's nationwide total of 5,704 cases at 9 PM, which was the highest count recorded at the same time, but still exceeded 5,000 cases, marking the second largest scale ever.
Compared to the count at the same time one week ago on the 1st, which was 4,317 cases, this is 797 more cases.
Since there is still time until midnight when the count is finalized, the number of new confirmed cases announced as of 0 AM on the 9th is expected to reach around 7,000.
New confirmed cases occurred with 3,697 (72.3%) in the metropolitan area and 1,417 (27.7%) in non-metropolitan areas.
