The Fourth Omicron Case Confirmed in Japan

According to NHK on the 8th, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announced that a man in his 50s who arrived at Narita Airport on the 4th was infected with the Omicron variant.
The man has a history of staying in Nigeria. He tested positive for COVID-19 at the quarantine station upon entry, and genetic samples were being analyzed. It was confirmed on the same day that he was infected with the Omicron variant.

The confirmed patient showed no particular symptoms at the time of entry. He is currently isolated in a medical facility. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is investigating the infection route and identifying close contacts.
