Arrest Warrant Requested for Man in His 30s for Causing Accident and Driver Swap Attempt
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A man in his 30s who caused a traffic accident while driving without a license and then committed 'driver substitution' has had an arrest warrant requested.
On the 8th, Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station announced that they applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, who is suspected of aiding and abetting a criminal and violating the Road Traffic Act, citing concerns that he might flee.
The prosecution accepted the police's request and has filed the warrant with the court.
Mr. A is accused of driving a passenger car without a license at an urban intersection in Gwangsan-gu last July, causing a collision with another vehicle, and then substituting his older brother as the driver.
Mr. A had his driver's license canceled and did not reacquire it, and it is reported that his older brother has already been punished for aiding and abetting a criminal in connection with this case.
The accident at the time was minor, and no serious injuries were reported.
Mr. A admitted to the charges, telling the police, "I was afraid of punishment for driving without a license, so I put my older brother forward."
