Hwasun-gun to Provide 'Basic Public Interest Direct Payment' to 8,102 Farms
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 8th that it paid the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment (hereinafter referred to as Public Interest Direct Payment) on the 6th to promote the public functions of agriculture and rural areas and stabilize the income of farmers.
The scale of the county's public interest direct payment was KRW 5.05 billion for small-scale farmers' direct payments (4,211 households) and KRW 8.45 billion for area-based direct payments (3,891 households), totaling over KRW 13.5 billion paid to 8,102 households.
Starting from the application acceptance in April, the county verified the requirements for direct payments such as ▲target farmland ▲farmers ▲actual cultivation status ▲income verification and checked compliance with obligations.
Among the two types, the small-scale farmers' direct payment is a fixed amount of KRW 1.2 million paid if the cultivated area is between 0.1 and 0.5 hectares and certain conditions such as income and farming period are met.
The area-based direct payment is supported differentially according to the support unit price by cultivation area segment.
A county official said, "We hope this helps the farms that have experienced difficulties such as labor shortages due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," and added, "We will continue to strive to increase farmers' income."
