Nine Public Officials Confirmed Positive at Incheon City Hall New Building... Autonomous Police Committee Office Closed
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Nine public officials working in the new building of Incheon City Hall have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Incheon City on the 8th, public official A, who works on the 18th floor of the Autonomous Police Committee in the new building of City Hall located in Guwol Well City Office Building, Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, tested positive for COVID-19 on the 6th.
The infection route of A has not yet been confirmed, but the quarantine authorities, concerned about the spread of infection, conducted a full investigation of 36 other public officials working on the same floor, resulting in 8 additional confirmed cases as of today.
The remaining 28 public officials are either awaiting results or are in self-quarantine.
The quarantine authorities have temporarily closed the Autonomous Police Committee office and are conducting specimen tests on public officials who overlapped in movement paths with these confirmed cases in the new building. Additionally, they plan to test public officials from the main building, Civil Service Building, and City Council who commute to and from the new building.
It has been identified that about 2,100 people, including public officials, work in the new building, main building, Civil Service Building, and City Council.
Among them, 622 people from 31 departments, including the Autonomous Police Committee, Job Economy Headquarters, Maritime and Aviation Bureau, Transportation and Construction Bureau, Culture and Tourism Bureau, and Women and Family Bureau, work in the new building, which houses 96 departments in total at City Hall.

An official from Incheon City stated, "The new building is not currently closed, but if the possibility of infection spread is high, the quarantine authorities may take measures to close it."
