Ssangyong Engineering & Construction announced on the 7th that it has completed patent registration for the industry's first development of the "Test Method Using Existing Framework to Verify Existing Pile Bearing Capacity."
This method is a technology that measures the bearing capacity of piles (the foundation piles supporting a building), which is essential for remodeling safety inspections. It measures the bearing capacity by cutting the middle cross-section of the pile and installing a hydraulic jack in the space, reducing costs and time by more than half compared to existing methods.
The existing reaction body installation method, which installs structures around columns to measure bearing capacity, costs about 6 million KRW per pile including steel frame fabrication costs. In contrast, this method does not require steel frame installation, so the measurement cost per column is only about 3 million KRW. Assuming the diagnosis of pile bearing capacity for an apartment complex of 10 buildings, the existing method would cost about 1.2 billion KRW and take more than 5 days, whereas this method can be completed in 2 to 3 days at a cost of 600 million KRW.
Additionally, when restoring the pile after cutting the cross-section for bearing capacity inspection, stability can be enhanced by covering the cut space with a pipe and filling it with rebar and concrete.
Besides this technology, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction holds a total of eight patents, including ▲a bracket device for horizontal excavation work of a vibration-free rock breaker ▲column opening method in apartment remodeling ▲securing seismic structural safety using dampers.
A Ssangyong Engineering & Construction official stated, "We applied this method to the ongoing remodeling project of Ogeum Anam in Songpa-gu, Seoul, significantly reducing initial project costs and construction time," and added, "We plan to actively invest in technology development to solidify our top position with a super-gap in the remodeling market and secure differentiated technological capabilities."
