"Provision of Diesel Exhaust Fluid Sales Data" Ministry of the Interior and Safety Collects Inventory Status Using Public-Private Platform
Open to Everyone on the Public Data Portal
Collaboration Between Private Sector and Government from Data Creation to Public Service Provision
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 7th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that through public-private collaboration mediated by public data, it is continuously updating and automatically collecting urea solution inventory information by gas station and providing it to the public as the most convenient and familiar private service.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has opened the urea solution inventory status data by gas station to the public data portal so that not only major location-based private services but also anyone can use it. Following the provision of urea solution inventory and price data for about 100 key distribution gas stations, the government is gradually expanding the number of gas stations providing sales status information to more than 2,000 locations.
To provide more useful urea solution information to the public, the government improved the inventory status, which was updated twice daily, to a real-time update method starting from the 26th of last month. With this improvement in data collection and provision methods, urea solution consumers can conveniently check the inventory by gas station close to the current situation through apps they frequently use and visit gas stations with available stock.
This "Urea Solution Sales Data Public Service" is similar to the public-private collaboration problem-solving case during last year's "Mask App," but it was a more difficult situation because gas stations did not have a system or infrastructure to input urea solution data in real time. The decisive role in creating a system to automatically collect urea solution inventory status by gas station in a short period was the active participation and cooperation of a startup company.
Since this task requires communication and cooperation with many gas stations and various private industries, the division of roles and collaboration among related ministries also shone. Private service companies such as T map Mobility, Kakao, and Naver contributed from the planning stage of the urea solution data collection and opening system by suggesting ideas for effective services, and quickly integrated urea solution data into their public services using the Public Data Portal Open API to provide it to consumers. Several individual developers are also using the Public Data Portal Open API to develop and provide web or app services.

Minister Jeon Hae-cheol said, "Providing urea solution data to the public through public data opening is a realization of the government's innovation core value of 'participation and cooperation,' and I especially appreciate the dedicated efforts of private companies that quickly resolved public inconvenience in an urgent situation." He added, "Through this collaborative problem-solving, the government once again realized the infinite possibilities and effectiveness of public-private collaboration, and going forward, the government will actively leverage private expertise and creativity to create and develop government services together with the private sector."
