'Safe at Seoul Forest Even at Night' Seoul City to Replace Aged Walkway Lights with LED in Phases
Phase-by-Phase Replacement Project of Aging Park Lights Installed on Seoul Forest Walkways for Citizen Safety
Step 1 Completed: Replacement of 147 Aging Park Lights on Main Walkways
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 5th that it has improved the old park lights installed on the walking paths in Seoul Forest, renovating some previously dark sections.
This year, 147 locations in major walking path areas with high pedestrian traffic and frequent complaints were prioritized for replacement. Next year, the remaining areas will be completely replaced to create a bright and pleasant environment without any blind spots.
The replaced park lights use cut-off type LEDs with excellent light efficiency, providing brighter illumination over a wider area than before. In particular, the lights can be focused on the walking paths in the desired direction, allowing safer use of the park at night.
The previous park lights emitted light in all directions, failing to supply the desired amount of light to specific locations, resulting in generally dark park areas. The newly replaced lights provide sufficient illumination for citizens using the park, helping to prevent accidents in advance and improving visibility. Additionally, the lamp posts are colored tile gray to harmonize well with the dense forest of Seoul Forest, focusing on preserving the park’s landscape.
