Lee Jae-myung: "Triple Discrimination Against Jeonbuk Is Valid and Regrettable"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, said, "It seems that Jeonbuk feels it is experiencing triple discrimination."
On the 3rd, ahead of his weekly bus (Megabus) visit to Jeonbuk, Lee made this remark during a YouTube broadcast. Visiting Jeonbuk for 2 nights and 3 days until the 5th, Lee said, "Jeonbuk has a somewhat unique sentiment. The residents of Jeonbuk seem to think this is natural," adding, "Jeonbuk is being discriminated against. It seems they feel marginalized."
He continued, "At first, I didn't understand what they meant, but there was validity to it," and stated, "In reality, most policies have been centered around Jeonnam and Gwangju." He also said, "Jeonbuk is part of Honam, but it receives no special consideration," and added, "They are discriminated against because they are from Honam, and equally discriminated against because they are from a province."
